Mobile Library Service
From its base in Bloxwich, the Mobile Library Service has been bringing the library to the people of Walsall since 1982.
The Team includes Drivers, Library Assistants, Home Library Officers, a Supervisor and a Manager who work together to bring library services to the residents of Walsall.
The Services we deliver:
- A weekly service to over 40 sites throughout Walsall
- Free to join and open to all
- Mobile 1 – Timetable
- A free monthly library service that visits Homes, Day Centres, Sheltered Accommodation, Retirement Homes and Schools
- Mobile 2 – Timetable
Home Library Service
A free monthly library service to people in their own homes who find it difficult to visit their local library or carry books because of illness, mobility, disability or because they are full-time carers.
Computers at home
Computer training is available for Home Library Service users in their own home. For additional information and enquiries please contact us at the address above.
Establishments that cannot physically accommodate a visit from the mobile library may be offered a ‘Deposit Collection’. The collections are put together by library staff using Reader Profiles, and are changed on a monthly basis.
‘Talking Book Talk’ Reading Group
The Mobile Library Service supports ‘Talking Book Talk’, a Reading Group specifically for blind and partially sighted people. The members meet once a month in a branch library, and over a cup of coffee discuss the book they’ve been listening to and put the world to rights!
